
CSI Friends host Mario Buatta

The Friends of the College of Staten Island and the
CSI Foundation will feature designer Mario Buatta and honor Sally W.
Williams at its annual luncheon, May 17, at noon; the Hilton Garden
Inn, Bloomfield. Tickets $75. Reservations required by May 10, at

Mario Buatta, "The Prince of Chintz," one of America's foremost
designers, was born on Staten Island, studied architecture at The
Cooper Union, and attended Parsons School of Design, both in
Manhattan.
His impressive list of past and current private clients includes
Mariah Carey, Malcolm Forbes, Barbara Walters and Billy Joel.
Sally W. Williams is being honored for her commitment to the
environment and to CSI. Ms. Williams. a resident of Castleton
Corners, was associated for 35 years with the federal government,
retiring in 1995 as chief of the staffing services division of the
U.S. Office of Personnel Management, Philadelphia region.
She is immediate past president of the Greenbelt Conservancy and
serves on the Citizen Advisory Committee of the Fresh Kills
Landfill. She is a founding member of the CSI Foundation board of
directors and past president.
Honorary co-chairs include Alice Diamond and Norma D'Arrigo. All
proceeds will benefit student scholarships and undergraduate
research.
