Concerts Make Heavenly Music In Island's
Backyards
Staten Island Advance - Sunday, May 14, 2006
On April 22 at 8 p.m. at the Concert Hall in the
Center of the Performing Arts at the College of Staten Island, I
attended a performance of the Philharmonic with my wife, Kathleen.
They performed three pieces of music from Ludwig Van Beethoven
flawlessly.
The entire program was balanced, melodious, crisp, sharp and done
professionally. The musicians and the conductor were truly on the
level of performers I have seen at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall
for over 10 years. The Piano Concerto #3 was especially delightful,
and Sylvia Kahn as the soloist was precise.
All Staten Island should know we have a jewel located in our
backyard. Look for future performances of other great composers.
Expose yourself, and perhaps your children and grandchildren, to
this musical treasure.
