Women's Conference touches varied topics

Stress management, legal questions, healing therapies and the operatic genius of Verdi were some of the topics addressed yesterday at the eighth annual Women's Conference, sponsored by the Coalition of Staten Island Women's Organizations and held at St. John's University.

Keynote speaker Dr. Cathryn Addy touched on the theme of this year's conference, "Enriching Women's Hearts and Minds." Dr. Addy is president of Tunxis Community College in Farmington, Conn., She also has founded a crisis hotline in Riverton, N.Y.

Other presentations included "Healing Therapies," by Sister Grazyna Michniewicz and Joy Young; "Legal Peace of Mind," by Cynthia DiMarco; "Spiritual Strength and Social Change: A Seminist Perspective," by the Rev. Terry Troia; "Stress Management: Mind, Body and Spirit," by Dr. Roberta Vogel, and "Verdi: Father of Italian Opera," by Nicholas A. Spilotro.
