The College of Staten Island Alumni Association has
named Brian Michaelson chairman of its 2003 Taste of the
Mediterranean. The event will be held March 29, beginning at 6 p.m.
in the College of Staten Island (CSI) Campus Center.
James McBratney, proprietor of Jimmy Max in
Westerleigh and the Parsonage in Historic Richmond Town, will serve
as the evening’s honorary chairperson.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $32 per
person. Seating is limited and reservations are required. For

Involved with the CSI Alumni Association for many
years, Mr. Michaelson, customer relations coordinator with the
United States Postal Service on Staten Island, has chaired or
volunteered for numerous alumni benefits.
Mr. McBratney is widely recognized for his work with
the children at his “Kindergarten Pizza Seminars.” The gatherings
were recently featured on New York 1, earning him the 2002
Distinguished Service to Youth, Family, Community Award.
Self-described as a “passionate Staten Islander”
whose community service has spanned 15 years, McBratney is currently
a board member of the G.R.A.C.E. Foundation (Getting Resources for
Autistic Children’s Equality). He is also president of the Staten
Island Restaurant & Tavern Association.
Over 50 Staten Island restaurants and bakeries will
showcase their specialty cuisine during A Taste of the
Mediterranean, a food-tasting benefit that was know at its inception
eight years ago as A Taste of Italy.
The evening will provide the community with an
opportunity it familiarize itself with the cuisine of the
Mediterranean. Music representing the region will also be provided.
Proceeds will benefit the CSI Alumni Association,
its programs and scholarships.
